of several different adjustment methods, assisted by with the appropriate
therapy, diet, exercise, and good ergonomic positioning.

Massage Therapy:
Is a service we also offer by licensed Massage Therapists. Massage therapy
is used for overall muscle relaxation as well as to release localized "trigger
points" within the muscles themselves. This can improve pain, increase
blood flow, and make adjustments easier. Our massage establishment license
# is MM 2524 More

| Meridian
Therapy (Acutherapy): Needle or non-needle techniques are available. Asian medicine includes the well-known treatment modality of Acupuncture At Whole Health, we are fortunate enough to have a licensed Acupuncture Physician on the premises. Dr. George Patides offers meridian therapy with or without needles. This is a useful adjunct in healing muscle and joint injuries faster and achieving more pain control and muscle relaxation. It also has beneficial effects on many organs of the body, and can be a helpful supplement to orthodox medical care for almost any disease or disorder. |

Electrical Muscle
Stimulation:
Electrical muscle stimulation has multiple benefits: It gives immediate pain
relief by overriding the body's pain signals with a pleasant electrical tingling;
it causes the muscles to contract until they are fatigued and the excess fluid
and swelling is pumped out of them; and it actually changes the permeability
of the cell membranes, allowing nutrients to flow into the cells and wastes
to flow out faster, increasing the speed of healing by about 20%.
Kinetic /Exercise
Instruction:
Many elaborate "rehabilitation" facilities allow for a structured,
supervised workout. Strength gains are great, but when the rehabilitation
is over, the gains are not maintained! At WHC, we recognize that everyone
is an athlete in training. We believe in home exercise instructions, combined
with yoga classes, cycling, swimming, workout videos, or whatever enjoyable
activities the patient will actually integrate into his or her lifestyle on
a permanent basis.
Hydrotherapy Beds:
The hydrotherapy bed is a combination of a waterbed and a whirlpool. Relaxing
jets soothe the muscles and soft tissues through a waterbed membrane, so you
get hydrotherapy benefits without undressing or getting wet! This is an excellent
therapy to prepare patients for an adjustment, since it allows muscle relaxation
and softens the ligaments and fascia of the spine.
Ultrasound:
Ultrasound is the only therapy modality that affects the muscles, joints,
and ligaments from the inside out. When ultrasound waves move through the
injured body part, wherever there is a change in density, such as a swollen
muscle, ligament, or tendon, the ultrasound causes the interface to vibrate
at the speed of the sound waves. This produces heat and a deep massaging effect,
even in areas that are too deep to be massaged by hand without pain and bruising.
Heat and Ice Packs:
Moist heat packs relax muscles, soften tissues, and produce localized blood
flow. These can be very helpful in preparing for an adjustment or promoting
general relaxation.
On the other hand, if an injury is new ("acute", in medical terms), ice is preferable for the first 48 hours. This is a natural, local, anti-swelling and anti-pain agent that works without the adverse side effects of prescription or over-the-counter anti-inflammatory drugs.
